Do you go into Google
to try and find where your website ranks against different terms? This can be a
painful experience where most of us would give up or lose track. Fortunately
tools are available to help track how your key terms are performing over time,
so you can decide how well new SEO efforts are going and where you need to re-energise
existing pages. Rankerizer is one of many such tools that helps you stay on top
of your website’s search engine rankings.
What does Rankerizer do?
Rankerizer tracks the Google, Bing and Yahoo search
ranking for search terms for any website you want. It is a free and powerful
tool which can be used to check if the changes you make to your site are increasing
your site’s rankings. You can use Google Analytics to identify terms used to
find you site and then use Rankerizer to track where you are ranking on those
particular terms. You can also use it to track those same terms for your
competitors’ websites. Rankerizer also can be used to monitor the number of
backlinks and display your PageRank for your particular webpages. When setting
up Rankerizer be sure to change the country so that the data given is relevant
to you.
As Google’s results
are becoming more and more personalized, Rankerizer’s results can vary more
between tests. This does not mean it is an irrelevant tool, just take the
results as suggestions rather than gospel. Use it to see trends and to see if
your optimization efforts are making a large scale difference i.e. from not
ranking at all in one month to suddenly ranking number 23.
There are other
services available; however this one is free, very easy to use and provides
good data.

Choosing

recent, ongoing and upcoming page changes being made to your site. It’s good to
come back to choosing keywords every month or so to make sure you are keeping
up to date with how your efforts are working. Be sure to revise your keyword
skills with our Trends and Keywords article.

If you’ve recently removed areas of your
website, be sure to still keep tracking previous terms that you used to use.
They may come in handy again, but you also want to be sure that if you no
longer offer a particular service that it stops ranking highly or risk misleading
your users. On the other hand, when you create new areas and pages, be sure to
make it a habit that associated keywords are being tracked!
